FIREPROOFING WITH DRYWALL
For walls that require a fire rating, such as exterior walls that are close to another house or interior walls separating apartment units, there is a fire-resistant Type X drywall. Gypsum Firecode C is similar in composition to Type X, except it contains more glass fibers and an additive called vermiculite to reduce shrinkage. Minimizing shrinkage is extremely important in the case of a fire spread since when exposed to high heat, the gypsum core shrinks. But this additive, vermiculite, expands at about the same rate, so the gypsum core is more stable in a fire. Taping drywall is very important for fireproofing as well since it stops smoke and fumes from spreading in the vent of a fire.

REMOVING MOISTURE AND DAMPNESS
Maintaining a healthy and mold-free living environment is crucial for living in a healthy environment. Drywall installation matters so making the right choices is crucial for a successful remodel. ASAP Services, we offer high-quality products that can instantly reduce moisture levels in homes. Greenboard is a moisture-resistant drywall option, commonly used in washrooms and other areas expected to experience elevated levels of humidity. Backerboard or cement board is more water-resistant than greenboard. It is used in showers or sauna rooms as a base for ceramic tile. It is made of cement and reinforcing fibers, and can be installed vertically to provide backing for vertical tiles.
